Automatic Doors that Shake, Rattle and Roll.
Automatic Doors Guru here with another quick tip. Have you ever gone shopping at your favorite office supply store and when you get up to the automatic doors they rattle open with more shaking and rumbling than an old fashioned steam engine on a narrow gauge rail line. What is up with that? I have always been told that first impressions are everything, well, the impression I get is that these stores only want my money and don't really care what I think of their establishment. My tip of the day is to spend a buck and get a tune up to keep those doors in top shape.Automatic doors are like cars. There is an occasional scheduled maintenance which all automatic doors should receive. Most of the time it is something as simple as cleaning the floor tracks which can be done in house with absolute ease. Just vacuum out the tracks and wipe them down with a rag to keep them clean. Typically there is no need for lubrication. This will only attract dirt and grime and will make things worse much quicker. And whatever you do, don't wax the tracks. This will create a build up over time which will bind the guides and cause premature failure.Automatic doors which rumble and squeal should be serviced immediately so that the wheels and guides don't wear excessively before their normal life expectancy is over. It's like driving your car on tires with only 12 pounds pressure and 800 pounds of sand bags in the trunk. Sure, you can get where you need to go for a long time, as long as you don't need to go far. There will come a time eventually where it will catch up to you and the tires will give out. It is the same with doors. A little maintenance up front will reduce the cost of replacement in the long run. And quiet, unobtrusive doors won't sour customers before they even see your prices.
